Why do we memorize the Qur'an?

  Following the Prophet (PBUH), he (PBUH) would memorize it and revise it with Jabriel (PBU) and some of his companions.

  Following our righteous predecessors, Ibn Abd Al-Barr said: "Seeking knowledge is levels and ranks that should not be transcended, and whoever transcends them has transcended the path of the predecessors (may Allah have mercy on them), the first step in seeking knowledge is to memorize and understand the book of Allah..."

  Memorizing the Qur’an is easy for all people, it doesn't require a certain age or a certain IQ, as many memorized it despite their old age

  Memorizing the Qur'an is a project that does not fail... How?! You would say... when a Muslim begins to memorize the Qur’an with a strong determination, then laziness and indolence start to creep into him, and he stops memorizing. However, the amount of what he memorized is not wasted, and even if he didn't memorize anything he will still get the reward of reciting the Qur'an because whoever recites a letter from the book of Allah, will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward

  The Prophet (PBUH) said: "The people of the Qur'an are the people of Allah and those who are closest to Him." so the honor of being one of them is enough

  The one who was devoted to the Qur'an is honored as mentioned in the Hadith "It is out of reverence to Allah in respecting an aged Muslim, and the one who commits the Qur'an to memory and does not exaggerate pronouncing its letters nor turns away from it..."

  The real envy should be with the people who memorize the Qur'an as the prophet (PBUH) said: “Envy is justified in regard to two types of persons only: a man whom Allah has given knowledge of the Qur'an and so he recites it during the night and during the day...”

  Memorizing and learning the Qur’an is the best enjoyment of the world as the Prophet (PBUH) said: "Does not one of you go out in the morning to the mosque and learn or recite two verses of God’s Book? That is better for him than two she-camels, and three verses are better for him than three she-camels, and four verses are better for him than four she-camels..." and camels at that time were very precious and expensive.

  The one who memorizes the Qur'an the most is the one who should be the imam in the prayer as Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) said: “The one of you who knows most of the Qur’an should act as your imam “and remember that the prayer is the pillar of the religion and the second pillar of Islam.

  Memorizing Qur’an elevates you in this life and the hereafter as Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) said: “verily, Allah elevates some people with this Qur'an and abased others “

  The one who knows Qur'an the most is placed first in the grave because after the Uhud battle, Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) commanded to bury two men in a single grave and put the one who knows the Qur'an most in the front.

  On the Day of Resurrection Qur'an will intercede for those who recite it as Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) said: "Recite the Qur’ān, for on the Day of Resurrection it will come as an intercessor for those who recite it. “So, congratulation to those who will be interceded by the Qur’an on this rough day.

  Memorizing the Qur'an is salvation from fire as the Prophet (PBUH) said: “If the Qur’ān were put in a skin and thrown into the fire it would not burn.” and Abu Umamah says: “God does not punish with fire a heart known the Qur’an.”
